Tri-Alpha Honor Society

About

Tri-Alpha (Alpha Alpha Alpha) is an honor society dedicated to recognizing and celebrating first-generation college students. The organization honors students who are first in their families to pursue higher education and provides opportunities for recognition, connection, and engagement.

Alpha Alpha Alpha, or Tri-Alpha, was founded March 23, 2018, at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Over 100 members of the Alpha Chapter were initiated that day, including undergraduate students, faculty, staff, alumni, and honorary members. Following the successful induction, the college took steps to incorporate Alpha Alpha Alpha so that chapters could be started on other campuses across the country.

What Does "First-Generation" Mean?

For Tri-Alpha membership, a student is considered first-generation if neither parent, step-parent, nor legal guardian has completed a bachelor's degree.
